 Has Your Internet Been Slow Lately?- Pop-up Ads Overwhelming You?

The problem could be that you have a Spyware (or Adware) program which has imbedded itself in your computer. These programs infiltrate your computer, most of the time unknowingly, slow it down considerably, and monitor what sites you like to go to.  Eventually this information gets sold to companies and individuals who send you spam, pop-ups ads and other annoying or unwanted materials. 

There are ways to get out of this trap! Before you download that “trial” version, or that “accelerator”, be sure to read all of the End User Agreement (EULA) before you download any material from the Internet.  Most Spyware and AdWare is installed when you install those free programs that supposedly make your computer go faster, do more tricks, or make your desktop look more attractive.

  If you aren’t sure whether you already have Spyware or Adware on your computer (if you surf, you probably do) you can go to one of the sites below and download the free Ad-aware or the free trial of Spy Sweeper.  If you feel uncomfortable about removing programs from your computer, you may want to go to your local computer store or professional, and ask them to locate and neutralize the problem for you.  Westelcom has partnered with many local computer professionals, and if you call our office, we will try to refer you to a local professional.
