Username to your new Westelcom information.

Changing your dial-up access number.

If you are using Win 95/98 … Double Click on the My Computer icon.  This will open a new window looking something like the one to the right.  Double Click on Dial-Up Networking

If you are using Windows Millennium Edition (Me) - Go to the Start Menu, Programs, Accessories and then click on Dial-Up Networking.

In either case, you will get a new window that looks something like the one to the right.  You will see an icon that says “slic” or “my connection.”

Click once on that icon so that it becomes highlight and then click on the File menu and select Properties from the drop-down menu.

A new window should open that looks very similar to the one to the right.  While you are welcome to continue to dial the same number you have been … Westelcom offers these additional local dial-up access numbers:

Albany (694-3413)
Willsboro (981-3413)
Saranac Lake (323-3413)
Lake Placid (418-3413).


       *NOTE: It is your responsibility to know what Westelcom access numbers are local and free of tolls based on your area and the calling plans you have chosen with your telephone service provider. Slic.com, Westelcom and members of their staffs are in no way responsible for accrued long distance charges from improper use of its access numbers. If you are unsure of your calling plans, contact your telephone service provider.

If you need to change your dial-up access number, enter in the field under Telephone Number.  If there is a check in the box next to Use area code and Dialing Properties, click on it now to remove the check.

Click OK at the bottom of this window and your computer is now configured to dial your new number.

Changing your username.

If you are using Windows 95/98 or Millennium Edition, you can change your username by attempting to connect to the Internet as you normally would. 

You should be presented with a Connect To window which looks very much like the one pictured here.

To change your username, simply delete the entry in the User name field and type in your new username.  If you changed your phone number in the previous section of these instructions, make sure your new phone appears in the Phone number field.

If everything is looks right, go ahead and click on the Connect button to connect with your new Westelcom account.
