Changing Netscape Communicator to use your new Westelcom settings.

Open Netscape Communicator and click on the Inbox icon to get into the e-mail portion of the program. You should get a new window to open that says “inbox – Netscape Folder” in the upper left hand corner.  Click on the Edit menu.  Your screen should look like the picture to the right.  Then click on the Preferences … option.

This will pop open a new window like the one to right. From there, you will want to click on the Identity option and you will see your e-mail account information.

You will want to change the E-mail address fields with your new Westelcom e-mail address.  The Reply-to address field should be blank.

NOTE: The “Name” field does not necessarily need to be your name, but rather whatever name you want the receiver or your e-mails to be presented with.  For example, it could be “The Smith Family” or “John” or “Mr. Smith”.  So feel free to change this field to whatever you would like.

You will now need to click on the Mail Servers option which will make the window change to look something like the picture to the right.  You need to change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server to mail.westelcom.com. The Outgoing mail server username field should be blank.  If it is not, delete anything that is in the field now.

From the same window, you will need to select your e-mail account from the list under the Incoming Mail Servers list and then click on the Edit button.  This will open a new window, which looks something like the one to the right.

You need the change the Server Name to mail.westelcom.com.   The Server Type should already be set for POP3 Server, but if it is not, please change it now.  Lastly, you will need to set your User Name to be your new Westelcom username, which is indicated in the letter received with this package.

NOTE: If there is a security/privacy issue, you should leave the Remember password box unchecked … it will prompt you to enter the password each time that you want to check the mail, otherwise anybody who has access to the e-mail client would have access to your mail.

Then Click on the OK button which will return you the Preference window.  Click OK here, which will bring you back to the main e-mail screen your computer … is now ready to send/receive e-mail with your new Westelcom e-mail address.

People will still be able to send e-mail messages to your Slic.com e-mail address, which we will automatically forward to your new Westelcom address.  You should begin to inform all of your friends, family, and business contacts of your new e-mail address so they can get used to sending messages directly to your new Westelcom address.  Slic.com and Westelcom want to make this transition go as smoothly as possible.  If you need technical assistance with this transition, feel free to call Westelcom’s 24x7 Technical Support Service by dialing 1-866-FASTTEC (327-8832)./font>
