How to Publish files in your Web Space
(PC Users)

Now that you have a dial-up account, you would like to use your free space to set up a personal web site or for use as temporary storage, follow these short steps.

1.      You need to find a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program. You can download them or buy them in the store and then follow the instructions to install the program on your computer. Once the program is installed, you can begin transferring files. (The program we suggest is Cute FTP).

2.      Now you will need to enter in the FTP address to connect to. Since you are accessing your personal space on our server, the address is: users.westelcom.com

3.      Next you will need to enter your username and password and click connect to get connect to our server.

4.      Once you are connected, the window will be split into 2 sections. The left side will be directories on your computer; the right will be the computer you’ve connected with.

5.      If using Cute FTP, once the file is selected click on the up arrow to transfer from your computer to the computer you are connected with.

The image below is a sample of what Cute FTP looks like.

Please Note: your home page file MUST be named default.htm or your web page may not load correctly or not load at all. You have now just completed transferring files to your personal web space. The web address to access these files now is: http://users.westelcom.com/username/file.name
Username is your username (ex. jsmith) and file.name is the name of the file you transferred to your web space.
