How to Publish files in your Web Space
(MAC Users)

Now that you have a dial-up account you would like to use your free space to set up a personal web site or use it as temporary storage here is how to do it.

1.      You need to find a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) program. You can download them or buy them in the store etc. and then follow the instructions to install the program on your computer. Once the program is installed, you can begin transferring files. (The one we recommend is Fetch).

2.      Now you will need to enter in the FTP address to connect to. Since you are accessing your personal space on our server, the address is: ftp.westelcom.com

3.      Next you will need to enter your username and password and click ok to get connect to our server.

The image below is a sample of what Fetch looks like.

4.      Once you are connected, you see a list of files listed by name and date. (Most likely it will show no files because you don’t have any there yet).

5.      To upload a file click on Put File and select the file you want to send to the server. If you need to send more than one file, click on Put File again and continue as needed.

Please Note: your home page file MUST be named default.htm or your web page may not load correctly or not load at all.

You have now just completed transferring files to your personal web space. The web address to access these files now is: http://users.westelcom.com/username/file.name

Username is your username (ex. jsmith) and file.name is the name of the file you transferred to your web space.
